The 48 Group Club was very saddened to hear the news of the sudden death of former Premier Li Keqiang on October 27. He had a long and distinguished career leading important work in his native province of Anhui, as a student and youth leader in Beijing, in Henan and then Liaoning, and ultimately at national leadership level in Beijing.
He served three terms on the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee and as Premier of the State Council for two terms, March 2013-March 2023.
As soon as he heard the news, our Chairman, Stephen Perry, wrote to Ambassador Zheng Zeguang expressing our deep condolences. The late Premier was a good friend to the 48 Group and Stephen noted that he met with us several times and twice sent messages of greetings to our Chinese New Year dinner.
